ABOUT US

From Papoose Club to 5B Kids Fund

Our History : It Started on the Slopes. The Papoose Club Story (1954 - 2024)

Our roots are pure Sun Valley history. Back in 1954, we kicked off as the Papoose Club, a grassroots babysitting co-op. Imagine a group of dedicated local moms who needed reliable childcare so they could get some time on the slopes! It was born out of volunteerism and a shared commitment to keeping the kids safe and happy.

That community spirit never faded. By 1975, we formalized our efforts as a non-profit, evolving from a co-op into a dedicated youth funding partner in the Wood River Valley. For seven decades, the Papoose Club has been a dependable source of funding for countless local youth programs.

OUR MISSION

To support cultural, social, educational and athletic activities of Blaine County Youth.

5B Kids Fund is a non-profit volunteer organization that supports youth-oriented groups in Blaine County. Our grant funds are built through hosting fundraising activities and the generous support of sponsors and donors. In addition to providing financial support through our grants, we host a number of community youth events at no cost to the participants.

Why Change the Name?

70+ years strong! It was time for an update that better reflects who we are now: a dedicated funding organization whose doors are open to everyone (men and women alike!) who wants to help.

The 5B Kids Fund name is simple, clear, and focused:

5B: That's our promise—100% of the money we raise stays right here in Blaine County.

Kids Fund: It clearly shows that we are a group that raises and grants money specifically for youth programs.

We wanted a refreshed look and feel for the same committed group, ensuring we can keep funding the amazing work being done for our local youth for decades to come.
